Cleopatra VII

Cleopatra VII

My portrait of Cleopatra VII, the most famous of Egypt’s Ptolemaic rulers. Although we know she had Macedonian ancestry on her father’s side, her mother’s identity remains unknown and some forensic anthropological research suggests she may have been mixed-race (i.e. part native Egyptian and part Macedonian). When drawing this portrait I wanted her to have a vaguely Zoe Saldana or Rihanna look.
