This over-sized relative of the black mamba slithers in the swampy jungles near the kingdom of Pwani. Her venom possesses enough potency to paralyze even the mightiest dinosaurs. My hero Forsei the Wanderer reasons that if he can slay and milk Masamba, he would have a powerful weapon to defend the people of Pwani from the sea monster Kinte. Of course, confronting Masamba would be a lethal challenge in its own right.
Since Forsei’s story is based in large part on the ancient Greek myth of Perseus, Masamba is the major Medusa analog. However, she also draws inspiration from the similarly massive serpent Satha from Robert E. Howard’s short story Valley of the Worm.
