Mehtire the Hikuptan Priestess

Mehtire the Hikuptan Priestess

Concept doodle for Mehtire, a female character from my short story The Gold Tusk. Back in the heyday of the Hikuptan civilization, Mehtire served as a higher-ranking priestess for the elephant god Yebu. She doesn’t actually appear until towards the story’s end, but she does use her authority to save the protagonist Khalid from execution at the hands of temple guards. Although beautiful as I like my heroines, Mehtire isn’t meant to be an object of romance in the story (Khalid meets her as a centuries-old ghost anyway).
